"After the festival’s “début” last year with the great names such as “Concerto Soave” and Maria Cristina Kiehr as well as Leonardo García Alarcón, it is a great honour to host this year the prestigious ensemble “Les Cornets Noirs” with the amazing soprano Nuria Rial, who will perform a programme of Italian sacred music of the seventeenth century.
Another honourable guest of the second edition is the ensemble “The Rare Fruits Council” in a trio formation with world-wide famous performers Manfredo Kraemer (baroque violin and artistic direction), Juan Manuel Quintana (viola da gamba) and Luca Guglielmi (organ), who will perform a programme dedicated to the German music of the early baroque period.
As it is aimed that every edition of the festival includes one organ solo concert, this years solo recital will be performed by Davide Pozzi, the organ player of the ensemble “Canto Fiorito”, beloved by audiences in Lithuania and highly appreciated in all European countries, who will present music for organ created by composers from Rome.
The hosting ensemble of the festival “Canto Fiorito” will continue its mission to research, revive and popularise Lithuanian cultural legacy with a specially created programme “From Rome to Vilnius”, exploring the influence of Roman music school on the music production in the courts of Vasas’ and Sapiegas’, the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The four concerts of the II International Kretinga Early Music Festival will take place on the 16-19th of August, free of charge for the public, willing to experience the revived music of the past and appreciate its treasures."
