As in every edition of the Festival, this year Lithuanian and international public will be able to enjoy the visit of stars of the early music world, who will perform on the extraordinary organ of the Kretinga Franciscan monastery.
The host ensemble Canto Fiorito will open the festival with a beautiful programme of music from the kingdoms of Castilla and Aragón from late renaissance and early baroque periods.
The ensemble I Gemelli will present treasures of the sacred music by the French baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier for three male voices, and in another concert, will join Canto Fiorito in a collaboration project to perform a programme of splendid vocal and instrumental Venetian music for 10 parts, uniting 5 voices and 5 wind instruments.
The fantastic baroque cello player Balázs Máté will perform a recital with his “basso di violino”, featuring virtuoso Italian and Spanish music from early XVII century.
The legendary organist Lorenzo Ghielmi is responsible for this edition’s organ recital, presenting Italian early and late baroque music.
The ensemble Les Cornets Noirs, known to the public from the last year, is the Festival’s ensemble in residence, selected to present their repertoire and musicianship for 3 years in a row. This year Les Cornets Noirs will perform two concerts in a big formation of cornetti, violins and sackbuts - the first concert will be educational, with short explanations about instruments and music, and the second one will close the Festival with the programme exploring the influence of the Venetian virtuoso style in whole Europe.
As always, all concerts are with free entrance!
